8’ 4” x 11’ 8” A Persian Tabriz room-size rug with lamb wool and a very fine weave. One of the highest quality in terms of design, the material used, and workmanship from Tabriz fine workshops. One in an “identical pair” 1221 and 1222(one-inch longer). The Persian Tabriz carpet features a diamond center medallion in cream color with repeating series contrasting diamond motifs with repetitive Herati designs set in a dark blue field.
The classic Mahi (Fish in Persian) design is copied in other workshops in the region and in other countries. The challenge for a true collector is finding one that is “the original” and not a mere copy. It makes a tremendous difference and it clearly shows when one sees the rug from upfront.
