Description
1' 9" x 3' 1" Beautiful vintage Navajo weaving from the SW United States from the mid 1900s. This Navajo rug has a series of diamond form designs radiating out from the center changing color like the color spectrum. Each diamond consists of a different color starting in the center with blue, lavender and moving to shades of green and finally to shades of browns and reds.
Navajo rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
