Description

A finely hand-knotted Persian Bidjar area rug from the first quarter of the 20th century, featuring a beautifully detailed allover Golfarang floral pattern set against a soft pale yellow field — an unusual and refined color choice that gives this Bidjar a lighter, more feminine character than the more common red and blue field examples of the tradition. The floral motifs are delicately rendered in shades of pink, ivory, red, baby blue, and green, creating a rich and harmonious composition of exceptional charm.

The navy blue primary border provides an elegant frame, adorned with stylized blossoms in complementary hues of red, pink, and baby blue. Renowned for their exceptional durability and dense construction, Bidjar rugs are often referred to as 'The Iron Rugs of Persia' — woven by Kurdish village artisans in Northwest Persia using a unique compressed-weave technique that produces extraordinary density and weight. This early 20th century example exemplifies that reputation with its high knot count, robust weave, and timeless Golfarang design.
