Minimizing our Negative Impact on the Climate

The rugs that seem to be "the current trend" as shown in magazines such as Architectural Digest, Interior Design, and other similar publications and are liked and selected by so many interior designers for their clients, lack quality material and workmanship and will not last more than a few years before they are disposed of when the "trend" changes and the designer move to something different. These rugs are "woven" in factories overseas and sold online or in many furniture and rug stores, which are extremely polluting to the environment. Every step in material processing and production, manufacturing, transportation, and storage adds to the carbon footprint and negatively impacts the climate. As consumers, what can we do to remedy this?

At the Persian Knot Gallery, we are doing what we can to help our clients minimize their impact on the climate. We do this by helping our clients to maintain the rugs that they have inherited or have bought from us. As these rugs were produced over 75 to 100 years ago and can be used for another 100 years if washed and maintained regularly. We believe it’s a win-win approach: enjoy the beauty of an artisan handwoven rug whose quality and workmanship will provide use and joy for generations.
