Qashqai 1605

This vintage Persian Qashqai tribal area rug, hand-knotted in Southwest Persia during the mid-20th century.  The rug is anchored by a striking oversized central medallion that nearly fills the entire field, creating a powerful and cohesive visual statement. Within the medallion, an array of intricate geometric motifs unfolds in a vibrant palette of rust, ivory, blue, yellow, and black, reflecting the artistic spontaneity and symbolic language of tribal weavers.

The composition is framed by deep blue spandrels, adorned with smaller geometric elements that enhance the structure and balance of the design. The use of all-natural vegetable dyes lends the rug a rich, nuanced coloration with subtle variations (abrash), adding depth, warmth, and authenticity that only improves with age.
