Description

This vintage oversized Persian Qazvin rug from the mid-20th century features a soft ivory field adorned with a delicate central floral medallion of refined elegance. The floral motifs are rendered in an enchanting palette of pink, baby blue, green, red, and brown, creating a sense of depth and harmony throughout the field of unusual luminosity. Framed by a light pink primary border accented with intricate patterns of complementary tones, the composition achieves the quiet, luminous beauty associated with the finest Central Persian workshop production.

Qazvin, located in the Alborz Mountains of northwestern Iran between Tehran and Tabriz, served as the capital of Safavid Persia in the 16th century and has maintained a refined carpet weaving tradition ever since. Qazvin rugs are distinguished by their elegant floral designs, their luminous ivory fields, and a palette of soft, refined colors that reflects the city's court carpet heritage.
