Description

This magnificent vintage oversized Persian Tabriz rug from the early 1900s captures the refined spirit of Haji Jalili's celebrated 19th century masterpieces — the legendary Tabriz master whose workshop set the standard for elegance and refinement in Northwest Persian weaving. Woven with remarkable artistry, the rug features a sophisticated floral and vine design set against a delicate palette of coral, cocoa brown, honey, yellow, and blue. A grand central medallion, beautifully framed by a pale brown-honey background, anchors the composition with elegance and balance.

Haji Jalili and his successors produced some of the most exquisitely refined carpets ever woven in Tabriz — pieces characterized by their luminous colors, their delicate draughtsmanship, and a palette drawn from the softest and most sophisticated end of the natural dye spectrum. This large format rug in its warm coral and cocoa colorway is an outstanding example of that tradition, bringing the stature and beauty of the Tabriz golden age to any grand interior. Tabriz, the ancient capital of Persian Azerbaijan and one of the great trading cities of the Silk Road, has been a center of carpet weaving for centuries. The city's workshops produce rugs of extraordinary technical precision and design sophistication — ranging from the classical floral medallion compositions of the great 19th century masters to the bold geometric and Mahi patterns for which Tabriz is equally celebrated. Tabriz rugs are among the most recognized and sought-after Persian carpets in the world.
