Description

A finely woven vintage Turkish village runner from the early 20th century featuring a bold geometric medallion design reminiscent of the celebrated Persian Heriz Karajeh runners — a design vocabulary that reveals the deep cultural exchange between Anatolian and Persian weaving traditions across centuries of shared history. The rich red field is adorned with four striking medallions alternating between ivory and navy grounds, each accented with details in green, blue, pink, and red.

Framed by a geometric border in navy and red, this runner reflects the artistry and compositional balance characteristic of the finest Anatolian village weaving — pieces where geometric forms achieve a visual rhythm and energy that rivals the most elaborate Persian workshop carpets. Anatolian village rugs of this early 20th century vintage, woven by artisans drawing on centuries of accumulated design knowledge, represent the weaving tradition at its most vital and authentic.
