4’ 4” x 6’ 8”      A beautiful Kerman Lavar rug from the late 1800s. The main field is in an ivory color with the corner spandrels in red and a rose red color border. The rug has a floral design in red, light blue, and cream colors. The border is in red color with flower design throughout. Lavar is a village near the city of Kerman on the edge of the great desert in South East Persia. Lavar carpets are world-renowned for their beauty in design and colors used which this carpet well represents.

The village of Kerman is located at the edge of the great desert in SE Persia and was on the ancient silk road.  It is known for some of the most beautiful and colorful rugs that were woven in Persia. The weavers used the color and flower designs in rugs to bring some color and nature’s beauty to the dry desert environment that they lived in.
