Heriz 1892

A beautiful vintage Persian Heriz runner, handwoven in the second quarter of the 20th century with a highly desirable allover geometric pattern and the uncommon ivory ground that is seldom found in Heriz weavings. The runner bursts with vibrant natural dye colors — striking tones of French blue, baby blue, olive green, pink, red, yellow, and cream. Large-scale leaf and floral motifs flow seamlessly through the field and border, brought to life by a beautifully balanced composition and a dynamic use of color.

Heriz rugs, woven in the village of Heriz and surrounding towns of the Azerbaijan region in Northwest Persia, are among the most recognized and beloved antique Persian carpets in the world. Distinguished by their bold geometric medallions, their warm brick-red and ivory palettes, and the exceptional durability of their double-wefted construction, Heriz rugs have furnished the grand rooms of Europe and America since the late 19th century.
