Description
4’ x 7’ 2” A 19th century Persian Silk Kashan area rug in floral/medallion design set on a red background with design colors in French blue, and baby blue throughout the field. The design and the color combination clearly demonstrates the mastery of the art of weaving in Kashan in this period. There is a central extended medallion in navy blue with its center in ivory and blue. The corner spandrels have a triple paisley design each with a different color scheme. The Kashan rug has a wonderful border design set in ivory with designs in blue, red. Although the rug is somewhat worn, it still shows the beauty and the art form.
