Description

A late 19th century Caucasian Shirvan "Perpedil"  area rug, meticulously hand-knotted in the late 1800s. While "Perpedil" Shirvan rugs are renowned for their distinctive designs, they almost invariably feature a dark blue field. It is extremely rare to find an example such as this one, woven with a luminous cream color field, making this piece an extraordinary find for collectors and connoisseurs alike.  Its captivating design, emblematic of the Perpedil style, unfolds elegantly across the unique cream background. The composition is further enhanced by a striking dark blue "Kufic" design border. This bold, angular script-like pattern is a hallmark of Shirvan weaving, adding both graphic beauty and historical authenticity to the rug.

The natural variations inherent in antique, hand-knotted textiles lend this rug a profound sense of authenticity and a beautiful patina that only enhances its appeal with age.
