Description

This wonderful antique Persian Malayer rug from northwest Persia, woven in the early 1900s, exemplifies the artistry of village craftsmanship. The rug features an allover geometric pattern set in a rich rust-colored field, softened by corner spandrels in a refined French blue accented with scattered paisley motifs. The cream border is adorned with distinctive crab-form designs rendered in blue, red, pink, purple, and brown, adding depth and movement to the composition.

Although it carries a graceful distressed look, this antique handmade rug retains exceptional beauty and character, making it an enduring piece of functional art. Collectors and designers alike will appreciate its balance of tribal authenticity and decorative sophistication.
