63” x 87” Large size and finely hand-woven Native American Navajo rug in eye dazzler diamond pattern in white, red, brown, and chocolate colors from the SW United States circa the early 1900s. The pattern displays a series of vertical diamond forms that are separated by eye dazzler lines. The rug is beautifully bordered in brown and chocolate.
Navajo rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navaja weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
