Description
4' 8” x 7’ 10” A vintage Karabagh kilim with a single flower bouquet in the field and variations of flower designs in the four corners from the first half of the 1900s. The field color is a combination of abrash black and brown with a border in cream color. The word "abrash" refers to the natural variation in colors that happen over time due to the use of natural organic dyes and the wool dyeing process. The kilim has a beautiful floral pattern set in a black/dark brown field. The floral design colors include bright red, green, ivory, black, pink, and green.. The border is in a khaki color with small designs. The Karabagh area in the Southern Caucasus region is known for the use of vibrant colors in their rugs and kilims . The overall design and color implementation in Karabagh rugs and kilims often resemble French impressionist paintings of the 1800s. This item can be resized and custom finished including serge the sides and bind the ends if desired.
