Description

An early 20th century room-size hand-knotted Persian Bibikabad rug featuring the classic Herati geometric pattern set against a rust red field — one of the most enduring and visually satisfying color and pattern combinations in Western Persian village weaving. A Persian blue medallion anchors the design with confident authority, complemented by green corner spandrels that provide cool contrast to the warm field. The salmon red border frames the composition with a complementary warmth.

Bibikabad rugs, woven in the village of Bibikabad in the Hamadan district of Western Persia, are celebrated for their elongated central medallions, bold Herati patterns, and the warm, saturated natural dye palette that gives them a visual richness that has made them enduringly popular with collectors and interior designers seeking authentic Persian village character.
