Description

This exquisite 19th-century Caucasian Shirvan area rug originates from the southern Azerbaijan region of the Caucasus, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and rich textile heritage. Featuring a striking geometric triple-medallion design, the rug showcases a dynamic interplay of red and ivory medallions set against a beautifully abrash navy and blue-green field.

The intricate border, rendered in ivory, is adorned with bold geometric motifs in hues of blue, red, and yellow, adding a vibrant yet balanced frame to the composition. Distinctive abrash — the natural variation in vegetable-dyed wool — lends depth and character, with subtle transitions across three unique shades of blue and green that testify to its authentic handwoven origins.
