Description

Late 19th century Persian Mahal Sultanabad rug was woven in the Sultanabad area of Persia (modern-day Arak) in the late 1800s. This beautiful rug features a captivating all-over design that consists of large, bold geometric forms. These motifs are brought to life in a palette of beautiful, bright colors, including rich red, serene blue, delicate pink, verdant green, earthy brown, and luminous yellow. The design is masterfully set against a warm and inviting brick-red color field, which provides a powerful backdrop.

The rug's composition is elegantly framed by a striking dark blue border, which is also adorned with its own intricate geometric forms in similar vibrant colors.  This style is often associated with the prestigious Ziegler & Co., which catered to the Western market with its innovative and elegant patterns.
