Description

A timeless 19th century antique Persian Farahan Sarouk rug of exceptional beauty and refinement, capturing the artistry of late 1800s Persian village weaving at its most accomplished. The intricate floral design, set against a deep navy blue background, is anchored by a stunning central medallion in warm plum red adorned with elegant floral motifs in French blue, soft pink, and brown. The corner spandrels, in luminous pale yellow, complement the central design with matching floral patterns of great delicacy.

A sophisticated border in navy blue, featuring geometric florets in pale yellow, blue, and cream, frames the composition with quiet authority. The Farahan district of Western Persia — a region that produced some of the finest village rugs of the 19th century — is celebrated for the extraordinary quality of its wool, the precision of its drawing, and the depth and harmony of its natural dye palette. This piece embodies all of those qualities in a format that works beautifully in studies, bedrooms, and intimate sitting rooms.
