Description
8’ 11” x 13’ 4” The beautiful French Aubusson carpet from the late 1800s has an eight-lobed cartouche with the initials MM (Marjorie Merriweather) interlaced against a pale blue ground. This is surrounded by a field of roses intertwined with brown scrolls on a rose color background.
This Aubusson rug was part of the collection at the Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens, in Washington, DC. The museum was the former home of socialite and the great philanthropist, Marjorie Merriweather Post, daughter of the founder of the General Foods Corporation.
