Description

These exceptional 19th century Chinese silk hand embroidery panels, created during the Qing Dynasty, exemplify the refinement and technical mastery of traditional Chinese textile arts. Executed with remarkable precision, each panel features an intricate arrangement of flowers, auspicious bats, and delicate moths, embroidered in blue and ivory silk and metallic threads against a richly woven damask silk ground.

The embroidery showcases the highly specialized forbidden (seed) stitch technique, prized for its density, subtle texture, and luminous surface. The motifs are densely and meticulously worked, creating a sophisticated interplay of color, symbolism, and surface depth. Rendered on a green silk background, the fine stitchwork reflects the hand of accomplished artisans and the elevated standards of Qing Dynasty court and scholar-class textiles.

The panels remain original and untouched, preserving their historical integrity. As expected of textiles of this age, there is wear along the edges, including thinning and loss to the silk ground, while the embroidery itself remains intact with no loss of stitches, as documented in the photographs.

A rare opportunity to acquire authentic Qing Dynasty embroidery, ideally suited for conservation framing, these panels would make striking wall-mounted textile art, offering elegance, cultural symbolism.
