Description
3’ 5” x 6’ 2” Vintage Hand Woven African Tapestry depicting various scenes of work around a farm with people and animals. What is most striking and appealing in this “outsider” and primitive creation is the simple beauty. It shows the different facets of daily work. It is not very sophisticated like the European and Verdure tapestries or Ottoman gold thread textiles from the 16th and 17th centuries but it is in fact, it is that simple and almost childlike design that makes it so charming. An excellent example of the "folkoric" art of the African weavers.
