Description
41” x 80” Beautifully hand-crafted American Amish pieced cotton quilt in a “Lemoyne Star” pattern from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania circa the mid 1900s. The prominent colors in the quilt are black and purple with individual pieces of the star pattern in green and purple hand-cut and hand-stitched. The quilt has very fine hand stitching. The Amish community in Pennsylvania hand craft the quilts for their own use using the material that they had on hand. It is a beautiful example of an upcycling and reuse of material that has utilitarian functions but is also a representation of the art and culture that is woven into it.
