Curated Collection of Authentic 19th and The Early 20th Century Fine Handwoven Rugs, Tapestries and Textiles From Around the World
Beautifully hand-crafted American Amish pieced cotton quilt in a “Diamond in a Square” pattern from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania circa the mid 1900s. The prominent colors in the quilt are pink, blue and plum. The pieces in the quilt were hand-cut and hand-stitched. The quilt has very fine hand stitching. The Amish community in Pennsylvania hand craft the quilts for their own use using the material that they had on hand. It is a beautiful example of an upcycling and reuse of material that has utilitarian functions but is also a representation of the art and culture that is woven into it. Please note that the color green is distorted in the photos and shows as blue. See the video.
