60” x 78” Beautiful Hand Stitched American Silk Quilt from the late 1800s. The ultra modern design in this piece of American folk art is reminiscent of 19th C Mennonite piece bars quilt from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was hand stitched with individually cut silk pieces in rectangular forms about 1” x 5”. The variety of material in brilliant colors is a joy to look at and appreciate. It is truly a labor of love and dedication. The hand stitched quilts from the 19th and the early 20th centuries have become extremely collectable. One reason is the delicate nature of such items. Because it is so delicate, This beautiful handcrafted silk quilt would be a wonderful piece to use as a wall art tapestry and can be displayed horizontally or vertically.
