Curated Collection of Authentic 19th and The Early 20th Century Fine Handwoven Rugs, Tapestries and Textiles From Around the World
Azari 1011
A beautifully crafted vintage Turkish Azeri rug, inspired by the iconic Serapi designs of northwestern Persia. This room-sized piece was woven in Eastern Turkey, near the Azerbaijan province and the Caucasus border—an area known for producing richly patterned and highly collectible village rugs. Rendered in a striking geometric Serapi pattern, the rug features a bold navy blue field adorned with stylized medallions and angular floral elements in shades of green, ivory, and red. Handspun wool and natural vegetable dyes were used to replicate the texture and coloration of 19th-century Persian rugs. The signature abrash—naturally occurring variations in dye—adds visual depth and artisanal character. With its open field design and geometric symmetry, this rug is a timeless and versatile foundation piece ideal for contemporary, rustic, or traditional interiors.
