Description

This striking mid-20th-century Persian Bakhtiari room size rug from Western Persia beautifully showcases the region's celebrated artistry and tradition. Featuring a grand central medallion set against a rich cream background, the rug is adorned with intricate floral motifs emblematic of Bakhtiari craftsmanship. Known for their vibrant vegetable-dyed colors, Bakhtiari weavers have infused this piece with vivid hues, including shades of blue, cream, green, pink, purple, brown, red, and gold, enhanced by the natural abrash (color variations) that add depth and character.
The corner spandrels introduce a rare and captivating brown and dark green coloration, offering a unique contrast to the rug’s bold brick red field. Framing the composition is a scrolling foliage motif within a cream border, balancing elegance with tribal authenticity.
