Vintage Persian Bidjar area rug, hand-knotted during the 1st quarter of the 1900s. Originating from the renowned Bidjar region in Western Persia, these rugs are celebrated as the "Iron Rugs of Persia" due to their exceptionally dense and robust weave, boasting a remarkably high knot count that ensures extraordinary durability and longevity.
This captivating Bidjar features the classic and beloved "Herati" (or Mahi) design, a sophisticated repeating pattern of a rosette contained within a diamond, surrounded by acanthus leaves. This intricate motif gracefully unfolds across a brilliant and commanding red field, which immediately draws the eye. The detailed designs within the field are rendered in a harmonious palette of verdant green, serene blue, and creamy ivory.
Adding to its grandeur, the corner spandrels are elegantly rendered in striking navy blue and creamy ivory, subtly adorned with delicate small red flowers. The composition is expertly framed by a deep navy blue border, featuring a continuous floral pattern in warm red and soft pink hues. A subtle yet charming small central medallion in navy blue and cream adds a focal point without interrupting the rug's overall intricate flow.
