Vintage Karabagh area rug from the Armenian village weavers of the Caucasus mountains circa the early 1900s. The Karabagh rug has a wonderful and highly desirable and sought after allover pattern in an abrash brown background with a royal blue border with design accent colors in red, green, and yellow. It has a wonderful abrash brown/black field color which is a manifestation of the use of vegetable dyes which beautifully sets up the design of small flower heads in red, yellow, and green and variations of those colors resulting from the use of organic vegetable dyes which develop into various shades over time. The border is a gorgeous abrash royal blue. Truly a small gem from the Caucasus mountains.
