Extremely rare and highly desired Caucasian Verne saddlebag from the early 20th century. The front of the bag is woven in “Verne '' technique with the S-shaped larger design representing a dragon filled with backward z shaped forms. The back of the saddlebag is a flatwoven kilim with alternating red and yellow color bands. The verne technique is difficult and time consuming but results in a three dimensional looking pattern. Verne weaving is very beautiful and is seen mostly in the Sileh kilims from the Caucasus.
