Description

This 19th century oversized Persian Farahan Sarouk rug is a majestic example of classical Persian weaving, inspired by the iconic 16th- and 17th-century Kerman "Vase" and "Vine-Scroll & Palmette" designs. With its mansion-sized scale and richly detailed allover floral pattern, this rug is a rare and distinguished collector's piece.

Set against a deep, luxurious navy field, the design features flowing vine-scrolls and grand palmettes in a harmonious palette of pink, red, green, blue, and yellow, creating a composition that is both dynamic and balanced. The primary border, rendered in a vibrant red, is flanked by elegant minor borders in gold and light blue, enhancing the overall symmetry and sophistication of the piece.

Woven with exceptionally soft, lustrous wool, the rug exudes richness and visual brilliance. While it has a very short pile and shows signs of age-related wear, the intricate design and exquisite coloration remain beautifully preserved—speaking to the enduring craftsmanship and artistic legacy of Persian Farahan rugs.

Ideal for grand interiors, galleries, or discerning collectors, this oversized Farahan Sarouk is a remarkable blend of historical elegance and timeless artistry.
