Description

A pair of large floor cushions from Kashan, Persia.  The rugs used to make the cushions were custom-made by a special commission to one of the best rug weavers in the city of Kashan, Persia, in the 3rd quarter of the 1900s.   Woven with very fine cashmere wool, the design shows two peacocks facing one another in a garden.  The tree and flower designs on each side are set in a beautiful and rich velvety red color. The simplicity in the design adds to the beauty of these unique folk creations. The rugs can be removed and be used as tapestry wall art or be framed to be displayed on the wall.
