A Curated Collection of Authentic 19th- and Early 20th-Century Handcrafted Rugs, Tapestries, and Textiles from Around the World Selected for Their Artistry, History, and Enduring Design.
This breathtaking Lavar Kerman rug is one of the most serene and visually captivating examples we’ve encountered. Woven in the village of Lavar near Kerman, this piece exemplifies the elegance and sophistication for which Lavar rugs are world-renowned.
The rug features a richly symbolic “Tree of Life” design, set against a midnight blue field. A central magenta-hued cypress tree rises gracefully beneath a sweeping arch, surrounded by a vibrant array of birds, flowering vases, and delicate trees. The composition is framed by sage green spandrels and a meandering ivory border adorned with stylized floral motifs.
The color palette is nothing short of extraordinary: luminous shades of magenta, pale green, golden yellow, soft pink, purple, and deep midnight blue are expertly balanced, creating a visual harmony that is both bold and deeply meditative. Steeped in cultural symbolism and artistic mastery, this rug captures the poetic spirit of Persian design at its finest.
