Description

This vintage Persian Mahal Sultanabad room-size rug, woven circa the mid-20th century, features a bold and elegant allover design inspired by the celebrated Sultanabad carpets of the 19th century. The field is rendered in a rich red tone and adorned with large-scale scrolling floral and vine motifs in soft shades of baby blue, ivory, cream, and light yellow—hallmarks of the classical Ziegler Sultanabad aesthetic.

The wide navy blue border frames the composition with striking geometric motifs that add depth and structure to the rug’s flowing central pattern. Drawing from the design traditions made famous by the Ziegler & Co. workshops of the mid-1800s, this piece embodies the enduring appeal of open, spacious design combined with a warm, inviting color palette.

Timeless and versatile, this rug is ideal for anchoring a living room, dining space, or study with elegance and character. It pairs beautifully with both antique furnishings and transitional interiors seeking a bold yet harmonious textile statement.
