Description

This handwoven Persian Nain rug from the third quarter of the 20th century is an exquisite example of the city's renowned craftsmanship, combining the extraordinary technical finesse for which Nain weavers are celebrated with a design of luminous elegance and refined sophistication. Woven with a fine wool pile on a cotton foundation and enriched with shimmering silk highlights, the rug radiates depth and dimensionality that shifts and glows as light moves across its surface.

The refined floral design unfolds across a luminous cream field framed by a harmonious cream border, accented with navy, French blue, green, caramel, red, and soft brown tones. French blue spandrels lend elegance to the corners, while the central caramel medallion, adorned with intricate silk-outlined motifs, anchors the composition with quiet authority. Nain entered the carpet weaving world in the early 20th century and rapidly established itself among the premier weaving cities of Persia — this piece represents that tradition at its most refined and enduring.
