Description

A striking example of authentic tribal artistry, this Vintage Persian Shiraz Yalameh Runner embodies the refined geometry and vibrant palette characteristic of Yalameh weaving traditions from southwest Persia (modern-day Iran). Woven near the historic city of Shiraz, this runner reflects the rich nomadic heritage of the region long inhabited by the Qashqai and Luri tribes.

The design features a compelling single column of connected latch-hook medallions extending gracefully from one end of the rug to the other. These geometric forms are rendered in bright yellow and red tones, set dramatically against a luminous French blue field. The medallions are framed by accents of ivory and deeper blue, creating a balanced yet dynamic composition that feels both structured and expressive.

Yalameh rugs share visual kinship with Qashqai weavings, yet they are distinguished by their more restrained composition and often brighter, clearer color palettes.
