Description
29” x 60” Vintage American Southwestern kilim area rug in gray, ivory, pink, and brown colors circa the late 20th century. The kilim has a stripe design pattern very similar to the Navajo Chinle rugs with southwestern earth tone colors. Navajo and Southwestern United States rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
