Description
4’ 10” x 6’ 10” Vintage American Southwestern hand woven kilim area rug in gray, ivory, and brown colors circa the mid 20th century. The southwestern kilim has an all over design pattern with a repeated geometric form throughout. Navajo and Southwestern rugs from the United States and northern Mexico are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. These weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
