Welcome to The Persian Knot Gallery

Curated Collection of Authentic 19th and The Early 20th Century Fine Handwoven Rugs, Tapestries and Textiles From Around the World

$35,000.00

Vintage Persian Tabriz room-size rug in a geometric “Mahi” pattern.  The beautiful Tabriz Mahi was woven with very fine quality lamb wool and has extremely high knot density.  One of the highest quality in terms of design, the material used, and workmanship from Tabriz fine workshops. One in an “identical pair” 1221 and 1222(one-inch longer). The Persian Tabriz carpet features a diamond center medallion in cream color with repeating series contrasting diamond motifs with repetitive Herati designs set in a dark blue field.

The classic Mahi (Fish in Persian) design is copied in other workshops in the region and in other countries including China, India, Romania and Pakistan but are nowhere close to the quality and workmanship of the Persian rugs. The challenge for a true collector is finding one that is “the original” and not a mere copy. It makes a tremendous difference and it clearly shows when one sees the rug from upfront.
