Description
1’ 10” x 2’ 8” Vintage Tibetan rug in a medallion pattern set on a black background with a pale green border and designs in blue, ivory, pink and orange. There is a narrow lattice border which frames the design in the field beautifully. It has the design of swastika on each end of the rug which is an honored symbol in Buddhism and Hinduism. In Hinduism, the swastika represents the four directions. Facing right, it represents the evolution of the universe; facing left, it represents the involution of the universe. Hindus consider the swastika both holy and auspicious and use it to decorate cultural items. This unique piece has been retained in excellent condition making it a true collector item that would fit in any tribal or Asian collection. And can also be used as a wall tapestry art.
