This vintage Tibetan rug is a striking and meaningful piece, featuring a bold medallion design set against a deep black field, beautifully framed by a pale green border and a delicate narrow lattice band. The rug is richly detailed with accents in blue, ivory, pink, and orange, creating a vivid yet harmonious palette that brings depth and dimension to its classic composition.

At each end of the rug, you’ll find the ancient swastika symbol, a revered emblem in both Buddhism and Hinduism. In Hindu tradition, the swastika represents the four cardinal directions. Facing right, it signifies the evolution of the universe; facing left, the involution of the universe. Universally considered a sacred and auspicious symbol, it is used in religious and cultural decoration across many traditions throughout Asia.
