Description

This antique Persian Malayer rug, handwoven in the early 1900s, is a remarkable example of fine craftsmanship from the Hamadan weaving region. Part of the tradition of Hamadan rugs and Persian Malayer rugs, this piece features an elegant allover paisley design set against a rich brick-red field, with a small dark blue medallion design containing a Herati motif. The cream border frames the composition with intricate forms in red, pink, green, and yellow, reflecting the artistry of vintage artisan rugs.

As with many antique Hamadan area rugs, this rug embodies the timeless beauty of antique Persian rugs, where geometric and tribal influences are harmoniously blended. Its enduring elegance makes it a refined addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
