Description
6’ 7” x 12’ 4” 19th century Afghan gallery rug in a geometric design pattern in dark red with accent colors in French blue, brown, and ivory. The rug has a “distressed” look and was woven using handspun wool and all vegetable dyes in the 4th quarter of the 1800s. This Afghan rug is one of the finest tribal weaves from the late nineteenth century. Although worn in areas, it still displays the beauty of a fine handwoven masterpiece that would bring distinction of age and beauty not unlike the country estates and manor homes where these rugs are rediscovered.
