82” x 85” Extremely rare American Jacquard Coverlet from Frederick County, Maryland. The beautiful Jacquard coverlet is signed “Joshua Corick, Frederick County, Maryland” and is dated 1841. It has a beautiful eagle design border with colors in red, blue, green, and ivory. The American coverlets became very popular during the early to mid part of the 1800s. A Jacquard loom was used to hand weave the coverlet. They were made special because the weaver was able to weave the name of the person ordering the coverlet in the lower left or right hand corner of the coverlet. The coverlet has a handwritten tag with all the date information.
