Description

This vintage Kurdish saddle blanket from early 20th-century Persia features an intricate allover paisley pattern—a symbol of fertility, life, and eternity in Persian culture.   The central field is woven on a creamy ivory background, adorned with paisley motifs in green, red, navy blue, black, and yellow, offering both harmony and visual rhythm. A gorgeous abrash green border surrounds the center panel, giving subtle texture and tonal variation that only hand-dyed wool can produce.

The side panels, in a bold rich red, are filled with complementary paisley designs in blue, black, and yellow, enhancing the visual contrast and tribal character of the piece. Decorative tassels along the sides and bottom complete the composition, adding movement and artisanal flair.  Once created for practical use as a horse saddle blanket, this piece now serves as a decorative textile—perfect for wall hanging.
