This exceptional 19th century Persian Malayer gallery rug is a finely hand-knotted example of Western Persian craftsmanship. Woven with high-quality wool, the rug features a richly abrash navy blue field, where subtle tonal variations created by natural dyes add depth, movement, and visual interest.
The field is adorned with a refined allover paisley (boteh) pattern, a timeless Persian motif symbolizing growth and continuity. One of the most striking features of this rug is its rare saffron-colored border, an uncommon and highly desirable element in antique Malayer weavings. The border is beautifully decorated with intricate floral motifs in shades of red, pink, green, and blue, providing a vibrant contrast to the deep navy field while enhancing the overall composition. With its elongated gallery/library proportions, this antique Persian rug is ideally suited for hallways, corridors, and refined interior spaces.
