Vintage Persian Malayer area rug was woven in the first quarter of the 1900s.  The beautiful uncluttered open design set on a terracotta red background.  It has a central medallion with a Herati pattern set on a navy blue background with designs in ivory, green, and brown colors.  The field also contains an axial column on either side of the medallion with a ” vase "design containing different birds and flowers in green, brown, ivory colors.  There is a narrow border set on an ivory color background with designs in navy, red, green colors.    The design of human forms and birds scattered throughout the field adds to the charm and beauty of this vintage rug.
