Description
3’ 8” x 6’ 2” Extremely rare and very collectable Qashqai tribal tapestry hand-woven rug in the “Tree of Life” pattern. This tapestry rug is unique in several ways. First there are two different woven techniques used in the creation of this tribal art. The border of the tapestry is a hand-knotted pile rug whereas the center containing the tree of life design is a flat-woven kilim with animal design forms similar to Sumac weaving in the field. The border is a piled rug with geometric and animal form designs. A beautiful piece as a wall art to present the tribal art of Western Persia. The Qashqai tribes have kept their tradition of moving to highland pastures in the summer where the weather is cooler and lowland fields in the winter where the weather is warmer.
