Vintage Persian Qashqai(Ghashghai) tribal carpet from Southwestern Persia circa the mid 1900s.   The Qashqai rug has a traditional tribal design format which includes one central medallion and four small medallions in the corner spandrels. It has a red field color with a central medallion in dark blue.  The corner spandrels design shows a small medallion in ivory. The Qashqai tribes use vegetable dyes (except the orange color) with all wool material in their weavings.

The Qashqai(Ghashghai) tribes have kept their tradition of moving to highland pastures in the summer where the weather is cooler and lowland fields in the winter where the weather is warmer.
