Description

Step back in time to the height of the Art Nouveau movement with this magnificent Late 19th century oversized Persian Kerman Lavar rug. Woven in the 4th quarter of the 1800s, this masterpiece embodies the renowned beauty, intricate design, and rich use of color for which vintage Kerman Lavar rugs are celebrated.

This rug features a truly stunning Art Nouveau floral design that evokes a sense of fluid, naturalistic elegance. The intricate design and use of color are so refined that the rug's aesthetic remarkably resembles the famous "Wisteria Lamp" by Louis Comfort Tiffany, a classic Art Nouveau creation from 1901-1902. The design includes a beautiful central medallion set against a serene cream color field, creating a captivating focal point.

The rug's diverse and intricate color palette includes a beautiful range of hues, such as vibrant turquoise blue, verdant green, rich red, and earthy brown, which are all artfully woven together to create a tapestry of unparalleled detail.

While over a century old, this rug remains a testament to the enduring beauty of traditional craftsmanship. It is in a "shabby chic" condition, showing signs of its age with gentle wear and some repairs in the corners. These marks of time do not diminish its beauty but rather add to its character and historical significance, making it a fully functional and charming piece for a curated interior.
